“I urge everyone to do what they can to support the country in its hour of need.”

Lord Ashcroft has been a passionate supporter of Ukraine since before the country’s all-out war with Russia began in February 2022. After the all-out war, he stepped up his support for the eastern European country in various ways.

Lord Ashcroft has visited Ukraine many times since February 2022, including several visits to frontline cities, towns and villages. He has written numerous articles for British national newspapers and also blogs for the Conservative Home website.

As a philanthropist, Lord Ashcroft has made several substantial donations to charities and aid groups in Ukraine, including a £1.3 million donation announced in September 2024 to the Olena Zelenska Foundation, a charity founded and run by the First Lady of Ukraine. During the summer of 2024, he interviewed the First Lady for a major newspaper article and YouTube film.

In February 2024, Lord Ashcroft was sanctioned by Russia because of his support for Ukraine. He and other British officials, historians and academics were accused of spreading “Russophobia”.

Lord Ashcroft donates £1.3 million to Ukraine First Lady’s charity foundation

Press release announced on 10 September 2024.

Lord Ashcroft is donating £1.3 million to the Olena Zelenska Foundation to fund charitable projects in war-torn Ukraine.

The donation will go towards two major building projects that are being undertaken by the Foundation, a charity created and headed by the wife of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Lord Ashcroft is making the donation as part of his on-going support for Ukraine. He has met the First Lady twice this year, first in London and later in Kyiv.

During their meetings, the First Lady outlined some of the work that her Foundation has carried out in the fields of health care, education and humanitarian aid since it was launched two years ago.

The medical centre in the US treating injured servicemen from Ukraine’s war with Russia

Published in the Sunday Express on 07 April 2024.

It is a 10,000-mile return journey that has given him hope after despair. Andriy Klymchuk was at an all-time low after being horrifically wounded by an artillery shell while serving on the frontline in Ukraine’s brutal war with Russia.

His injuries resulted in him having to have his right arm amputated above the elbow and losing his right eye. With hospitals in his home country at breaking point, he received only basic medical care and no prosthetic limb to enable him to carry out simple day-to-day tasks.

Now, some six months after receiving his life-changing injuries, he has been flown to a medical centre on the outskirts of Washington DC, the US capital, which is successfully treating dozens of the worst injured amputee Ukrainian servicemen from the war.

Lord Ashcroft supplies vital medical kit to front line

Published in the Daily Express on 06 February 2024.

Billionaire businessman Lord Ashcroft has paid for medical kit to be supplied to the front line as Ukraine’s war with Russia is about to enter its third year.

The peer has made a significant donation to pay for a key component in trauma medical packs, which can make the difference between life and death if a soldier is seriously injured in battle.

The medical supplies arrived in Ukraine over the weekend on a road convoy from the UK, along with other much-needed equipment and goods. Ukraine is nearly two years into its all-out war with Russia.

The Ukrainians will never waver in defence of their homeland. They are fighting for their lives – and their freedom

Published in the Daily Mail on 26 December 2022.

As he returns from visiting the war-torn nation, a stirring message from senior Tory LORD ASHCROFT.

A year ago, the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa had streets full of festive lights, towering Christmas trees in its main squares and a bustling population of nearly a million people. Not for nothing was it known as ‘the pearl of the Black Sea’.

Christmas 2022, ten months after the Russian invasion, is very different. Every evening, Odesa descends into near-total darkness because its electricity supply has been taken out by Russian missiles.
