A collection of dangerous SAS missions are to receive the dramatic reconstruction treatment for a new series on Five.

Mission SAS will use interviews, re-enactments and graphics to reveal four action-packed tales. Dangerous Films and Empire Media are producing the 4 x 50-minute series, based on the extensive collection of Lord Michael Ashcroft’s special forces medals.

Focussing on missions that range from Sierra Leone to the Oman, it will illustrate key tactics that the crack-force unit rely on to fulfil their orders.

Nick Green will produce and direct for Dangerous Films, which has previously produced D-Day 6.6.44 and 9/11 – The Twin Towers.

Executive producers are Mark Souster for Empire Media and Ian Russell for Five. Both Five and Discovery Channel UK will air the series later this year.

International distribution will be handled by BBC Worldwide.
