Announcement on 20 April 2026.

As I prepare to publish The Farage Factor: Reform UK and the Remaking of British Politics, I am pleased to announce that my next project will be a book about the rise of Zack Polanski and the Green Party.

The book will examine Polanski’s life and career as well as considering the ascent of the Greens in the era of multi-party politics.

British politics has shifted markedly since the last general election and it is the Labour Party in particular that appears to face the most significant threat as it faces being squeezed by Reform UK on one flank and the Greens on the other. This was shown most starkly at the Gorton and Denton by-election in February, which was won by the Green Party candidate.

Who is Zack Polanski? Where did he come from? What explains his – and his party’s – growing appeal? Who are the Green Party’s key players? What internal struggles has it faced? Is its alliance of eco-warriors, socialists, Muslims and social liberals likely to hold in the long term? And what if it ends up in government, perhaps as a coalition partner?

This book will shed new light on Polanski’s and the Green Party’s impact by addressing these and other questions.

As with all of my books, this one will be independent, objective, open-minded, fair and even-handed.

The research I’ve carried out already has proved fascinating. I look forward to sharing my findings when the book is published by Biteback Publishing.
