I am pleased to announce that my next political book will be a biography of the Prime Minister, David Cameron.
The biography will be co-authored with Isabel Oakeshott, who is currently Political Editor of the Sunday Times and a regular commentator on television and radio. She will work full time on the project after completing her notice period with the paper.
I anticipate that the book will be published in the second half of 2015.
As well as being an authoritative biography of Cameron, the book will discuss the politics of the current parliament, the challenges facing the parties in the context of public opinion, and in particular the campaign leading up to the 2015 election. It will draw on the extensive research I have conducted since 2010 through Lord Ashcroft Polls, which has won a reputation for rigour and objectivity both in the media and across party lines. In this respect the work will follow in the tradition of my previous post-election books, Smell The Coffee (2005) and Minority Verdict (2010).
Isabel Oakeshott says: “This is a unique opportunity to be part of a really exciting project. After eight years at the Sunday Times, I am looking forward to continuing my career in political journalism in a different way. I will continue to be based in and around Westminster, keeping abreast of the wider political scene.”
